Delivery Apps Hiring Now: Signup Times, Requirements, and Who Approves Fastest

Every delivery app is “hiring” in the sense that the signup page is always open. The useful question is which one gets you working soonest in your ZIP. Here is the week-one view.

Fastest approval

DoorDash and Uber Eats are usually quickest: application, license photos, background check, and most drivers are active in three to seven days. Grubhub and Instacart typically take five to ten days. Spark (Walmart) can take one to two weeks and, in busy markets, keeps a waitlist. Apply to all of the ones open in your market on the same day and let the approvals land in whatever order they land.

What you need

A driver's license, a Social Security number for the background check, a bank account for payouts, and a phone. Food delivery apps take a car, bike, or scooter and accept 18+ (Grubhub 19+). Grocery and Spark need a car. Rideshare is a different bar: 21+, a four-door car with an age cap, and a longer background check. Requirements for each are on the requirements page.

While you wait

Get the insurance question sorted — a personal policy excludes commercial gig use, and a rideshare or delivery endorsement from your own insurer is usually $10–$20 a month.
